Start small and keep your records organised
For a new service business, a practical starting point is to add customers and suppliers, review accounting settings and create an invoice for completed work. Record related supplier bills, import bank transactions and match money received or spent against the appropriate records. Reviewing matches before recording them helps keep the bank account and books aligned.
For a sole trader moving away from spreadsheets, agree a start date and opening position with your bookkeeper before bringing transactions into Ledra. A free subscription does not remove the need for accurate source records or reviewed tax settings. Keeping those foundations clear makes later reporting easier.
Know what is included before you choose
Accounting Free and Payroll Free are separate plan choices. Choosing a payroll subscription does not automatically provide accounting access. If you employ someone, review Payroll Free or the paid payroll options against the number of employees and pay runs you need.
GST tracking and BAS preparation help organise information for review; they are not a promise of live BAS lodgement. Automated bank feeds are marked as launching soon in the current catalogue, so do not choose a plan on the assumption that they are already available. Payroll is a separate plan choice. Payroll Free supports one employee and one posted pay run per Australia/Sydney calendar month. Automated bank feeds are launching soon; bank reconciliation currently uses imported transactions.
